Another week in 'Lock down', but no one told the wildlife!

After our third week confined to home, it is fair to say that I am running out of photographic 'targets'.  Social distancing, may currently be our 'normal', but the creatures in our garden, still put in an appearance.

Here are some of my highlights, from the past week....

There is also a whole world of life beneath our feet, if we take the time to look!



Often mistaken for a Yellowhammer, Goldfinch, or Greenfinch, this little bird is in fact, a 'Siskin'.

This 'Great Spotted Woodpecker', visits a couple of times each week.

These tiny 'Firecrest' have become my nemesis.........they live deep in the woods with little light and rarely show themselves.   -  My best shots so far, after 3 months trailing them!

Rescued this moth from the lake........now that's what I call impressive antennae!


This fly did not stand a chance against the 'Jumping Spider'.

    What a superb set of photos and I love the macro shots. How I wish my photos were half as good as yours. Thanks for setting up Dordogne Wildlife, so good to see what is around in our area and another reason to look harder for what is about when out for a walk.
    So now we know we have another month of lock-down, so lots more time to take phots, i just wish the garden, and particularly the vegetable garden, was not so demanding at this time of the year.

Great Spotted Woodpecker Family.......bringing new life to the woods

  Dad of the Year 2025.......this incredible father (on the right) is looking thin and absolutely drained after single handedly, bringing up 5 chicks! My Triumph TR3a

The story of my award winning 1959 TRIUMPH TR3a This car was manufactured on the 29th October 1959, at the Triumph factory in Coventry, UK.  On the 9th November 1959, the car was dispatched from the factory and shipped to their distributor (Jones Bischoff) in Saint Louis, USA. Sadly, the early history (owner details) is unavailable, due to privacy laws, which means that the records held by the US authorities cannot be shared with 3rd parties. However, they were able to confirm that the car was first registered in the state of Missouri. The next information, comes in the late 80's when it was found in a sorry state by Raymond Van Donk, in a barn in Holland. The mileage at that time, was showing a total of 75239 miles.  Whilst that mileage was believed to have been genuine, the figure was irrelevant, as the car clearly required a total restoration.
